Share your vision, Engage in action

Every youth has a dream of how the Sakhyam should be. The Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam Padana Congress will serve as a platform for sharing these dreams and to rework and realign the programmes and activities of the Sakhyam at the Sakha, Diocesan and Kendra levels. We expect to formulate New perspectives for functioning, new paradigms of action.

The Aim of the Padana Congress

·         Participation of every member of the Sakhyam

·         Formulation of different and varied styles of functioning

·         Activation of the Sakhas

·         Preparation of a common 2- year action plan for the Sakha till Kendra levels

·         Conduction of the action plan through the active involvement of every member of the Sakhyam

·         Animation of the youth of the Church

The Subjects for discussion in the Padana Congress

·         The need for a time bound and complementary action plan from the Sakha to Kendra levels

·         The review of the programmes of the Sakha held every year and the formulation of a process of evaluating the total functioning of the Sakha

·         The areas of activity which need to be emphasized for the next 2 years

·         The main programmes that can be organized in these areas

·         The manifestation of these programmes from the Sakha till the Kendra levels

·         The ways to ensure active involvement of all the members of the Sakhyam

Calendar of Events for the Padana Congress

July 1              The Convening of the Sakha Sakhyam
The Sakha is to select a co-ordinator and to discuss the areas of activity which need to be focussed by the Sakhyam. Informing these to the Kendra office through the forms provided.

August 5         Leadership Workshop (Diocesan level)
It will include Sakha office bearers, the coordinators from the Sakha and the Diocesan committee members. The Padana Congress modules will be distributed and explained by the Diocesan Vice-Presidents.

August 19       Preparation for the Padana Congress

The members of the Sakha Sakhyam will meet and discuss the various matters in the module provided and will prepare their report in the given format. This report is to be sent to the Kendra office.

October 21     Leadership Workshop III (Kendra Level)

It will include the Kendra committee members, the moderators of the group discussions and those who recorded the proceedings at the Diocesan Padana Congress. The module will be discussed and studied.

October 26, 27           Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam Padana Congress

It will include the Sakha coordinators and Presidents along with one Sakha representative. Papers will be presented, the reports of the various diocesan Padana Congress will be reviewed and discussed and an action plan will be formulated.

Inaugural Ceremony

The Inaugural Ceremony of the Kendra Yuvajana Sakhyam for 2011-2013 was held on Sunday, the 4th of December 2011 at the Episcopal Jubilee Mandiram Chapel, Kottarakara, at 2:30 pm.

Daivathinnarike
As part of the commencement of activities of the Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam for the year 2011-2013, a chain prayer, Daivathinnarike, was organized to be held on Saturday, the 3rd of December 2011 at the MTYS Platinum Jubilee Chapel (Mar Thoma Youth Centre, Adoor) from 8:00 am in the morning till 8:00 pm in the evening.

Kanalkoottam

A Get-together, Kanalkoottam, of all the leaders and representatives at the Diocesan level of the Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam was organized on Sunday, the 27th of November 2011 at the Mar Thoma Youth Centre, Adoor at 2pm. The gathering will be graced by the presence of the Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam President, Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Episcopa.

YUVAJANA PRESHITHA DHYANAM (Youth Missionary Retreat)

The Mission and Evangelism Committee of the Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam and the Mar Thoma Church Animation Centre are jointly organizing a retreat for the committed youths of the Mar Thoma Church. The retreat which will be held at the Mar Thoma Youth Centre Jubilee Chapel, Adoor will commence at 4pm on Friday, the 29th of July 2011 and will conclude by 4pm on Sunday, the 31st of July 2011.

Theme : GOD'S CALL AND CHRISTIAN COMMITMENT

Camp Fees: `100

Admission is limited to 50 persons

Those who wish to be part of the retreat should register their names along with a letter from the vicar on or before the 10th of July 2011.

Young Evangelists' Training Conference (Yuva Suvisheshaka Parisheelana Sammelanam)

A Young Evangelists Training Conference is jointly being organized by the Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam and the Mar Thoma Church Animation Centre for the young men and women who are involved in evangelistic work for the glory of God.

The Conference will commence at 4pm on Friday, the 5th of August 2011 and will conclude at 3pm on Saturday, the 6th of August 2011 at the Mar Thoma Youth Centre Jubilee Chapel, Adoor.

The registration fee is `50. Admission is limited to 50 persons.

Those interested please register your names at the Sakhyam Office, Thiruvalla, along with a letter from the vicar.

Pre-Marital Counselling Class:
The Women's Forum of the MTYS organized a Pre-Marital Counselling Class for women at the Kozhenchery MTC on Saturday, the 26th of March, 2011. The classes which dealt with how to lead a successful family life was led by renowned family counsellor, Shri Murali Mullamattom. About a 100 young women from different parishes and churches participated in the programme.

The Women's Forum of the MTYS organized a Pre-Marital Counselling Class for women at the Kozhenchery MTC on Saturday, the 26th of March, 2011. Sports Meet :
A Volleyball & Badminton Tournament was held on 20th and 21st of May 2011 at St Thomas Higher Secondary School , Kozhenchery. Ranni Nazareth MTYS won the VOlleyball Tournament. Linus Cherian (Neeleswaram) won the singles, while Kannancode Centre (Adoor) won the doubles in the Shuttle Tournament.

ITI Camp:
ITI Camp will be held at Adoor Youth Centre from May 3rd to May 13th, 2011. The theme for this year's camp is "Identifying the Formative Rock". A variety of courses will be taken, ranging from Biblical Studies, Church History, Homiletics, Personality Development and the like.

Mission To Parish @ Bangalore:
The centre has conducted a Mission-to- parish, covering Bangalore, Jallahalli, East, Primrose (City), Jaipur Parishes in May. In this program the Centre had interacted with the youths and also visited their houses.

Mission To Parish @ Jaipur MTC and Tambaram MTC:
Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam members visited Jaipur Mar Thoma Church from 26th june - july 4th as a part of Mission to Parish. This included Praise N Worship Session, house visiting , youth meeting .

On 11th July The M.T.Y.S youths led by the Assistant Secretary visited the Tambaram Mar Thoma Church and met the youths of Madras Christian College and conducted a meeting.

Young couples meet & Mission to Parish @ St Thomas Mar Thomas Church, Santacruz:
A young couples meet was held at the St Thomas MTC, Santacruz . About 20 couples attended the meeting.
A 20 minute video clipping of "Ten Commandment * was shown and its practical implication in family life was discussed.

Achen celebrated the english Communion and the Word Of God was delivered for the Malayalam Communion.

Reformation Class @ Vashi:
The Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam members led by The Asst Secretary Rev Abraham Kuruvilla visited the St. Pauls MTC, Vashi on August 22nd, 2010. The Holy Communion was celebrated. About 20 youths attended the Yuvajana Sakhyam Meeting . A Bible Study dealing with Reformation was conducted and necessary impetus for the year ahead was given.

Reformation Principles of the church were instructed upon Grace alone, Christ alone, faith alone, & Bible alone ,which were the four principles of reformation in the Protestant Church and then became an underlining factor in the Mar Thoma Church were emphasised. The eastern leanings of the Church were studied in short.

Mission Field Visiting @ Devanahalli:
About 25 Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam members aong with Asst Secretary of MTYS visited the Devenahalli mission field ( Karnataka) on the 4-5,11-12 of September, 2010. The team had interaction with the youths and the beleivers of the mission field,, visited the Compassion Child Development Centre in Vijaypura, Bijwara, Chikkaballapur and lead the Youth camp of Bethel Mar Thoma Church, Krishnarajpura.

Senior Friends Gettogether@ St . Thomas MTC, Thiruvalla:
Senior friends Get Together was conducted on July 23, 2010 at St . Thomas MTC, Thiruvalla, About 45 members attended the meeting.

Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam takes up different social welfare projects from time to time. The objective of these projects is to follow the word of the Lord by helping fellow human beings and also making the youth aware of their blessings and the realities of life in the process.

Gospel tours to mission centers are arranged so that the young people come to know of the challenges and opportunities of the mission fields. Gospel distribution squads are trained to distribute the scriptures in different places. Youth conventions are held on Diocesan and regional basis to promote study, and dedication of life. Campaigns are held against alcoholism and other social evils. A vigilance corps operates in pursuance of such projects.

Vocational guidance is also provided in a few branches. There are also self-employment projects under the auspices of the branches and centers. Thus working towards creating a positive change in the society, the Yuvajana Sakhyam is indeed living up to the purpose it was formed for.
